Midwifery care
I am passionate about birth, and it is through birth that I earn my living. I consider myself a professional, and my fees reflect the time and commitment which you will receive off me. I do charge a one off fee of £150 for the initial consultation; if you decide to employ me this fee is deducted from the final fee. If you decide to engage me at a late date in your pregnancy the fee remains the same; this is reflected in the additional work that needs to be put into a shorter time frame. A payment plan is available.
Antenatal care only Not currently available
All care from when you employ me until you go into labour. This involves visits in your home, or a venue convenient to you. You will be able to contact me for advice and support through e-mails or telephone when you need me. This package is suitable for someone who wants continuity of care throughout pregnancy, or wants the convenience of appointments at a time and in a place convenient to you. It may be you want the comfort and support of the same midwife at each visit who will know you after you have had a previous traumatic birth, or it maybe you need a midwife that has the flexibility to perform antenatal visits in the evening or at weekends.
Booking visit - usually takes 2 hours: Involves full history, discussion about previous birth experiences, plan of care, options for pregnancy, physical examination (blood pressure, height, weight, BMI calculation).
Antenatal visits - generally lasting an hour: Physical examination (blood pressure, abdominal examination, urinalysis), discussion about changes relevant to each stage of pregnancy, dealing with common disorders or pregnancy, advice on healthy lifestyle, employment issues and any other matters you want to discuss.
Birth Plan visit: approximately 2 hours of working through all your options for birth, a real chance to examine what really matters to you and how you want the birth of your baby to go. Discussion about place of birth, who you want with you to support you, pain relief, positions you may want to adopt, requests for the birth (such as delayed cord clamping, who will cut cord, skin to skin).
Post natal care only: Not currently available
From the minute you arrive home, until your baby is at least 28 days old I will visit you at home to support you in your first weeks as a new parent. Generally daily for the first 5 days, then spacing visits out as your confidence gains and feeding becomes established. From establishing feeding, to baby care, sleeping issues, neonatal screening test, weighing and general advice 24 hours a day you will have access to expert advice and support. If you need an extended stay in hospital I will arrange to come and see you whilst you are an in-patient to enhance the care you receive from the hospital midwives. I can also refer to qualified and experienced lactation consultants, sacra-cranial practitioners as clinically needed.
Full care: From £15,000
This involves all antenatal/postnatal care plus attendance at the birth of your baby. I will be on-call for you from 37 weeks of pregnancy and attend the birth of your baby. This obviously involves a huge commitment from me, which is reflected in the cost of this package. I am selective with numbers of clients so that I can ensure quality care is delivered to you & your family. I am a fully qualified Registered Midwife with over 35 years experience in the NHS and private sector, in both the UK and Middle East.
INSURANCE; Payable by the family approximately £1500 per birth which will be paid directly to the insurance company if insurance is needed. I will discuss this with you at booking.
Debriefing/Advice/One off visit : CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE
Useful to support with breast feeding, or just to have a full check up by a midwife. Or to discuss care received and explore options in the pregnancy or discuss your plans for birth. In the comfort of your own home - with children or family members present (if you wish) AND at a time to suit you (morning, afternoon, evening, weekends).
Sometimes events may occur which leave you wondering about what exactly happened. In these cases it may be useful for another health care professional (me) to sit and read through your notes with you - explaining medical terminology and exploring the event as it has been documented.
